Our Genesis Campaign embeds century-old local traditions of intricate Romanian Eggs into incredible NFTs with melodious original musical compositions. The NFT purchased contributed towards conservation efforts by WWF Romania and also grants you a chance to win Bonus NFTs and merchandise. Additionally, each egg carries certain traits to unlock additional features and incentives for future campaigns!

Our Genesis Campaign has four tiers of egg NFTs : Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum which grant the Inception, Pristine, Power and Primordial membership. There are 200 Bronze Eggs, 100 Silver Eggs, 25 Gold and 12 Platinum minted. All the traits and perks for each type of membership will be announced in the future. In the meantime you can find all the Egg NFTs here.

Project Ark is the brainchild of Carbonbase, a Green Tech start-up which has partnered with WWF Panda Labs for our Genesis campaign in collaboration with WWF Romania. This NFT collaboration is the first time that WWF is experimenting with NFTs to power conservation projects, and the particular campaign we are supporting is very special! The WWF Romania team has focused on re-introducing the bison in the Carpathian forests after 200 years of its absence, preventing poaching and bringing balance to the forest ecosystem. The campaign will support an innovative way of doing conservation, empowering local communities to become conservationists.

The project will generate an impact report, which will be publicly available. You can read more about the campaign on WWF’s website here: more information.

All transactions will be on the blockchain and can be viewed by anyone. At the end of the campaign, a report will be generated by WWF Romania to give more insights into the impact that was created. NFT Egg holders also get exclusive on-ground footage from Romania as well direct.

At the moment we are using the Layer Two Solution from Polygon Network (former Matic), which is able to reduce the emissions normally associated with minting NFTs on Ethereum by almost 99%. At the moment, we are among the few teams in the world that can mint NFTs (both ERC721s, and 1155s) on Polygon and have all the meta-data show up appropriately on Opensea. You can read more about our process here:

Project Ark’s NFT are:

  1. Super environmentally sustainable (very low carbon footprint)
  2. Have very low creation fees
  3. Have very low transaction and purchase fees

Around the world, local and indigenous communities in developing and emerging economies are on the front line of natural resource conservation. With customary rights to the territories and natural resources, these communities are the gatekeepers of our most precious landscapes and seascapes. Many directly derive their livelihoods from their natural environment and have been protecting the natural resources they depend on for centuries. Yet due to economic scarcity and social disparity, local and indigenous people living in biodiversity hotspots are also vulnerable to overconsumption of natural resources. Therefore, they are critical allies as environmental stewards. However, they are also in danger of being left behind if conservation efforts fail to involve them directly and trigger solutions with verifiable benefits for at-risk communities.

If we can solve these problems, we could unlock rights-based benefits for hundreds of millions of people worldwide along with the ecosystems that they protect and conserve. We will do this by testing innovative ideas (new and existing) in 4-5 pilot biodiversity hotspots (Latin America, East Africa, South-East Asia and Central and Eastern Europe) and 1-10 communities, with a clear pipeline for scaling across an entire region (10-100 communities) within a one year WWF Panda Labs cycle.
